An RV roof vent fan helps improve airflow and ventilation by pulling fresh air into your RV or exhausting hot, stale air outside. This helps reduce interior heat buildup, control moisture, and keep air circulating throughout your living space. Whether you're traveling in warm weather, cooking, or simply looking to improve everyday comfort, a quality roof fan is a practical addition to any RV.

Maxxair MaxxFan roof vents combine powerful ventilation with convenient features designed for life on the road. Available in multiple models, MaxxFans offer features such as variable fan speeds, reversible airflow, built-in rain covers, remote controls, and automatic operation options. Their integrated vent covers allow you to operate the fan even during light rain, providing ventilation without having to leave the roof vent exposed.

Before ordering, check your existing roof vent opening dimensions, roof thickness, power requirements, and available clearance to confirm compatibility with your RV. Features and installation requirements vary by model, so compare individual specifications to find the right MaxxFan for your setup.

Will a Maxxair MaxxFan fit my existing 14"x14" roof vent opening?

Yes. Every MaxxFan in this collection is built for the standard 14"x14" RV roof opening, so most installs replace an old manual vent or powered fan without cutting the roof. Roof thickness is the second measurement to check. MaxxFan Deluxe models fit roofs from 1-1/2" to 5-1/2" thick, and roofs outside that range need a spacer or garnish kit, sold separately. If you are deciding between a powered fan and natural light for the same opening, compare these fans against our square RV skylights for 14"x14" openings before ordering.

Can I run a MaxxFan when it is raining?

Yes. MaxxFan models have a built-in rain shield lid that covers the fan opening, so you can leave the vent open and the fan running during rain or while driving. A standard roof vent has to be closed in wet weather, which stops airflow and traps condensation inside the cabin. The rain shield also means you do not need a separate external vent cover on top of a MaxxFan.

How much power does a MaxxFan draw on 12V?

MaxxFan models run on 12V DC from your house battery, so they operate without shore power or a generator. Current draw rises with fan speed, so check the amp rating on the product page for the specific model you are considering. When you are boondocking, the lower speed settings stretch battery capacity. On hot days, running the fan on exhaust to pull trapped heat out of the cabin before you start the AC reduces the load on your rooftop unit, including low profile RV air conditioners.

What is the difference between MaxxFan models in this collection?

The main differences are control type, lid color, and automatic features. MaxxFan Deluxe models have 10 fan speeds and reversible airflow, so you can exhaust hot air or pull fresh air in. Some models use manual controls on the fan itself. Others include an infrared remote and a built-in thermostat that adjusts fan speed to hold a set temperature. A white lid lets in light, while a smoke lid blocks more sun. Match the model number on the product page to the controls you need before ordering.

Will a MaxxFan replace my old powered roof fan, and what should I check before ordering?

In most cases, yes. A MaxxFan can connect to the 12V wiring that already powers your existing roof fan. Before ordering, confirm three things: your roof opening is 14"x14", your roof thickness falls within the model's range, and your existing wiring is fused for the fan you select. If your current vent is a manual unit with no wiring, you will need to run a 12V circuit to the opening first. Text or call 817-984-1852 with your roof thickness and current vent model, and we will help you choose the right MaxxFan.
