An RV roof vent fan helps improve airflow and ventilation by drawing fresh air into your RV or exhausting warm, stale air outside. This helps reduce heat buildup, control moisture, and keep air circulating throughout your living space. Whether you're camping in warm weather or looking to improve everyday ventilation, a quality roof fan is a practical addition to any RV.

Dometic's Fan-Tastic Vent fans are designed to provide dependable airflow and convenient ventilation for RVs. With options featuring multiple fan speeds, reversible airflow, thermostat controls, and rain sensors, depending on the model, you can customize ventilation to match your needs. Their low-profile roof-mounted designs provide an effective way to keep your RV comfortable while making the most of your existing roof vent opening.

Before ordering, check your existing roof vent opening dimensions, roof thickness, power requirements, and available clearance to confirm compatibility with your RV. Features and installation requirements vary by model, so review individual product specifications to find the right Fan-Tastic Vent fan for your setup.

Will a Dometic Fan-Tastic fan fit my existing RV roof vent opening?

Dometic Fan-Tastic fans are built for the standard 14"x14" roof opening used on most travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes. Measure the cutout from inside the ceiling, not the outer flange on the roof. Then measure your roof thickness and compare it to the interior garnish (trim ring) depth listed on the product page, because a garnish that is too shallow or too deep will not seat against the ceiling. If you are deciding between a powered fan and a skylight for the same opening, our square RV skylights are sized for 14"x14" cutouts as well.

What is the difference between the Fan-Tastic fan models in this collection?

The 17 Fan-Tastic fans here differ mainly in lid operation and controls. Entry models have a manual crank lid and wall or fan-mounted speed controls. Mid-range models add a thermostat that cycles the fan on and off at a set temperature. Upper models add a rain sensor that closes the lid automatically and a remote control. Many models also have a reversible motor, so the fan can exhaust hot air or pull fresh air in. Compare the speed settings, thermostat, rain sensor, and remote listed on each product page against the features of the unit you are replacing.

How much power does a Dometic Fan-Tastic fan use, and will it run off my RV battery?

Fan-Tastic fans run on 12-volt DC power and are wired to your house battery system, so they operate without shore power or a generator. Amp draw rises with fan speed, so check the rating on the product page for the model you choose and size your battery usage for the speeds you plan to run overnight. Wire the fan to a fused 12V circuit that matches the manufacturer's specification. If you are replacing an older vent fan, confirm your existing wiring is in good condition before connecting the new unit.

Can a roof vent fan reduce how hard my RV air conditioner has to work?

Yes, in specific conditions. A parked RV can build interior heat well above the outside temperature, and running a Fan-Tastic fan on exhaust for a few minutes pulls that hot air out before you start the air conditioner. In mild weather, the fan alone can move enough air to keep the cabin comfortable without the AC. The fan does not replace an air conditioner in hot climates. If your rooftop unit is failing or you need clearance under a garage or carport, see our low profile RV air conditioners.

What is included with a Dometic Fan-Tastic fan, and what do I need to buy separately?

Most Fan-Tastic fan assemblies include the base, lid, fan motor, screen, and interior garnish. Roof sealant, butyl tape, and mounting screws are often not included, so check the product page before you start removing your old vent. Use a sealant rated for your roof membrane (EPDM, TPO, or fiberglass). If you are unsure which model matches your current fan or roof thickness, text or call 817-984-1852 with your existing model number and we will help you get the right fan the first time.
